Ink & Wire

Ink & Wire is a small San Francisco based handcrafted jewelry brand inspired by life living by the coast. There is currently no website for Ink & Wire as the small business does all of its resale through Instagram messaging. As a collection of images, the company’s Instagram presents itself in a sort of scrapbook feel. Film photos of beach scenes and road trips accompanied by Ink & Wire jewelry bring this brand to life. The design inspiration for the Ink & Wire website is drawn directly from the brand’s Instagram. The goal of the website is to create a functional and authentic representation of the brand. Funky typography paired with tan and teal hues work to create a beachy yet handmade feel to reflect the nature of handcrafted jewelry. The website features a scrapbooked landing page, a shopping page, an about page, and a shopping cart. Through incorporating these functional features, the Ink & Wire website will act as a platform to ease the shopping experience for both the consumer and the brand. Due to the nature of limited information as a result of a singular social media presence, information such as the exact jewelry collections, names of pieces, and biographical information are fictitious. The creation of these pretend pieces of information were aided with the implementation of AI platform ChatGPT. Through investing in a website, Ink & Wire can provide real and accurate information that helps consumers know the brand. Ink & Wire’s new website offers a fun and practical way to explore jewelry that is handcrafted with love from the California Coast.

San Diego State Fair

Cars of the California Coast is a signature car show at the San Diego County Fair, showcasing a stunning collection of coastal cruisers primarily from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Drawing inspiration from the California Dreamin’ lifestyle of the Beach Boys and the golden age of automotive culture along the Pacific coast, the “California Coastal Collection” celebrates the iconic cars that helped define California’s vibrant coastal lifestyle. From classic convertibles to iconic trucks and vans, these vehicles evoke a sense of freedom, nostalgia, and fun. This year, the show embraces a new concept—a “virtual car show”—which was inspired by the rise of virtual events in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This adaptation makes the event increasingly accessible as it opens it up to a global audience, making it a more inclusive celebration of California’s rich automotive heritage. The design of the virtual experience integrates a bold 70s color palette, retro-inspired typography, and coastal iconography reflecting the lively nostalgia of the mid 20th-century while maintaining a simple, modern aesthetic. This fusion of past and present creates a user-friendly and visually engaging online environment for viewers. The goal of the “California Coast Collection” is to immerse visitors in the nostalgic design of the past while inspiring the future of automotive culture. It utilizes display and design to foster community and encourage creativity. As memories of rides along the California coast are shared, new ones are created.

So, hop in, buckle up, and take a ride down memory lane!

Belmont Beach Club

At the heart of San Diego’s attractions, Belmont Park provides a variety of opportunities to experience San Diego through its rides, arcade, escape room, water park, and fitness center. Its newest attraction, The Belmont Beach Club looks to fill a gap in its services through providing an affordable luxury beach experience for both San Diego residents and tourists providing access to oceanfront lounging, surfing, sailing, and beachside dining. This site is designed to appeal to a large and leisurely audience of young adults, middle-aged parents & grandparents looking for a fun and family-friendly way to explore a vacation destination or take advantage of hometown amenities. The Belmont Beach Club site design achieves a balance of beach fun and luxurious elegance through the implementation of typography, color, & imagery. The blend of script and serif fonts work to communicate a sense of lavishness and sophistication while the playful color palette of blue, yellow, and cream create a lively and beachy atmosphere. Imagery and iconography of ocean elements including palm trees and beach scenes are used to paint a glimpse into the coastal California bliss the beach club has to offer. Cohesive brand identity is a crucial feature of this design. In the creation of an up and coming brand, utilizing strong brand identity works to create recognizability. This original concept was aided by the use of AI technology ChatGPT to generate titles and text blocks of sections such as menu items, experience descriptions, and membership packages. The Belmont Beach Club ‘s website showcases what Belmont’s newest attraction has to offer with mobile optimization and style.
